Nail Art Workshop Empowers Women at the School of Hope

This past June, we kicked off an exciting nail art workshop at the School of Hope. Thanks to the support from our friends at Project Apoyo, ten women joined us for 26 classes over the summer, learning everything from basic manicures to intricate Gelish techniques—all with the goal of creating new income opportunities for themselves.

From the very start, there was a buzz of enthusiasm. With supplies provided, our participants—made up of four mothers and six scholarship students—were eager to learn. The eight participants who graduated in September have truly made the most of what they’ve learned.

Several graduates have already taken their new skills into the real world! Two mothers, Emily and Hellen have been busy offering manicures and nail extensions to neighbours and coworkers, and scholarship student Britly has even carved out her own nail art space at her father’s beauty salon.

Most of the graduates are now dreaming big, with one mother expressing plans to expand her skills and, one day, open a nail salon of her own. It’s been amazing to see their progress and hear about the impact these new skills have had on their lives already. Thank you to Project Apoyo for making this workshop possible! We’re so excited to see where our graduates’ talents take them next.
