Celebrating Guatemala Together 🇬🇹

At the School of Hope, we kicked off September with an incredible week of festivities to celebrate Guatemala’s Independence! This year, our students took the lead, showcasing Guatemala’s diverse regions and rich cultural heritage through daily assemblies. Each grade prepared presentations, diving into the history and traditions.

A highlight of the week was the torch run at Finca La Azotea where students symbolically carried the “torch of freedom” as they ran through the trails, giving everyone a powerful sense of pride and connection to the spirit of independence.

To wrap up the celebrations, we hosted an award ceremony, where students were recognised for their achievements. Awards were given by grade, and we were thrilled to see some of our students honoured by the municipality and, for our scholarship students, by their own schools—all in recognition of their hard work and dedication.

The week was a wonderful celebration of Guatemala’s independence and the perfect opportunity for our students to learn about and connect with their heritage.
