Visit The School of Hope
Whether you are an EFTC Amigo, a regular donor, or are interested in our project, we would love to welcome you on a visit to the School. Come and see our classrooms in action, spend time with students, and meet our staff and volunteers.
-
Gain insight into our work
Visiting the School is a wonderful way to gain a unique, first-hand insight into the work we do. Learn more about our setting in Jocotenango, the history of the School, and some of the innovations and programmes we have worked towards. We would love to show you around!
-
Get involved at the school
There are many activities you can participate in while visiting Guatemala and the School of Hope, including volunteering in a classroom, participating in mealtimes, and helping students practice English. Time your visit around School milestones like Graduations, or Independence Day.
-
Explore Guatemala
The School of Hope is located only a few minutes away from the beautiful city of Antigua, a UNESCO world heritage site offering museums, local cafes and markets for you to explore. Alternatively, combine your visit to the School with an experience of Guatemala’s natural beauty - explore its volcanoes, lakes and tropical landscapes. Learn more on our Challenges page.
Plan Your Visit
-
We recommend our visitors fly into the Guatemala City Airport. We recommend you get in touch with us to organise your preferred mode of transport to Antigua.
-
As a popular tourist destination, Antigua has a variety of accommodation including hostels, Airbnbs and hotels to suit any budget. Alternatively, contact us to stay with a host family.
-
Visitors are welcome to stay with our host families, who we have worked with for years. Most families are located in the center of Antigua, and may have other visitors staying with them. You will have a private bedroom and share living areas. You are provided breakfast and dinner on the weekdays. Our host moms are able to accommodate vegetarians, gluten free diets, and food allergies. You can plan the type of homestay you are looking for with the Volunteer Coordinator. Living with a host family is an amazing opportunity to experience local culture and practise your Spanish!
We can assist you!
Our dedicated Sponsorship Coordinator will be there to help you plan your trip, and make your experience meaningful and fun.
