Celebrating Friendship and Love: Valentine’s Day at Our School

Celebrando la amistad y el amor: San Valentín en nuestra escuela

On February 14th, our school came together to celebrate love and friendship with a special Valentine’s Day photobooth! Each grade had the opportunity to take fun, memorable pictures with their friends, capturing the joy and connection that make our school community so special. Seeing our students’ bright smiles as they celebrated with their classmates was truly heartwarming. 

El 14 de febrero, nuestro colegio se reunió para celebrar el amor y la amistad con un photobooth especial de San Valentín. Cada grado tuvo la oportunidad de tomar fotos divertidas y memorables con sus amigos, capturando la alegría y la conexión que hacen que nuestra comunidad escolar sea tan especial. Ver las brillantes sonrisas de nuestros alumnos mientras celebraban con sus compañeros fue realmente reconfortante.

To make the day even sweeter, we received generous donations for some of our classes. Our students enjoyed delicious treats, including sodas, cake, and chocolates, thanks to our wonderful Amigos. Your kindness never goes unnoticed—thank you for making this celebration even more special! Special thanks to Industrias San Miguel for the donation of 1200 sodas for our students.

Para que el día fuera aún más dulce, recibimos generosas donaciones para algunas de nuestras clases. Nuestros estudiantes disfrutaron de deliciosas golosinas, incluyendo refrescos, pastel y chocolates, gracias a nuestros maravillosos Amigos. Su amabilidad nunca pasa desapercibida, ¡gracias por hacer que esta celebración sea aún más especial! Un agradecimiento especial a Industrias San Miguel por la donación de 1200 refrescos para nuestros alumnos.

Valentines in Guatemala is actually called Día del Cariño and is celebrated to honor both love and friendship. Everyday we watch as our students build deep bonds with their classmates and build their lifelong friendships. So to commemorate this day we wanted to make sure to honor their special bonds with their friends and give them a fun way to save these memories for a lifetime!

Festivities began earlier in the week making Valentines with our volunteer Brooke who is helping with English classes. She visited the classrooms, guiding students as they wrote heartfelt Valentine’s messages in English to share with their parents, both for the holiday and to showcase their learning. This activity added an extra touch of love to our celebrations, allowing students to express their appreciation in a creative and meaningful way.

En Guatemala, San Valentín se llama Día del Cariño y se celebra para honrar tanto el amor como la amistad. Todos los días vemos cómo nuestros alumnos crean lazos profundos con sus compañeros de clase y construyen sus amistades para toda la vida. Así que para conmemorar este día queríamos asegurarnos de honrar estos lazos especiales con sus amigos y darles una manera divertida de guardar estos recuerdos para toda la vida.

Las festividades comenzaron a principios de semana haciendo tarjetas de San Valentín con nuestra voluntaria Brooke que está ayudando con las clases de inglés. Ella visitó las aulas y guió a los alumnos mientras escribían mensajes de San Valentín en inglés para compartirlos con sus padres, tanto para la fiesta como para mostrar su aprendizaje. Esta actividad añadió un toque extra de amor a nuestras celebraciones, permitiendo a los alumnos expresar su aprecio de una manera creativa y significativa.

From festive props to shared laughter, every student had a wonderful time making memories with their friends.  
In honor of this holiday we would like to extend our love and appreciation to those who have helped us put smiles on our students' faces everyday. Thank you Amigos for the love you have shown our students and our school. We appreciate it today and everyday!

Desde el decorado festivo hasta las risas compartidas, todos los alumnos se lo pasaron genial creando recuerdos con sus amigos.

En honor a este día de fiesta nos gustaría extender nuestro amor y agradecimiento a aquellos que nos han ayudado a poner sonrisas en las caras de nuestros estudiantes todos los días. Gracias Amigos por el amor que han mostrado a nuestros estudiantes y nuestra escuela. ¡Lo apreciamos hoy y todos los días!
