A Special Celebration at the School of Hope 🎉 🏫✨

Una celebración especial en la Escuela La Esperanza 🎉🏫✨

Prior to the start of the school year, the school staff gathered for a very special celebration. On January 17th 2005, the School of Hope opened its doors for the first time.

These 20 years make us reflect on how far EFTC has come. A dream that started with 153 students, has grown into a project with a real impact on thousands of children in Jocotenango.

We could not let such an important date pass, so we commemorated this special day with a celebration on the school grounds, where the administrative staff, teachers and volunteers gathered to celebrate.

Previo al inicio del año escolar, el personal de la escuela se reunió para una celebración muy especial. El 17 de enero de 2005, la Escuela La Esperanza abrió sus puertas por primera vez. 

Estos 20 años nos hacen reflexionar sobre lo lejos que ha llegado EFTC. Un sueño que comenzó con 153 estudiantes, se ha convertido en un proyecto con un impacto real en miles de niños de Jocotenango.

No podíamos dejar pasar una fecha tan importante, por lo que conmemoramos este día tan especial con una celebración en las instalaciones de la escuela, donde el personal administrativo, docentes y voluntarios se reunieron para festejar.

Preparations began a few days before the event. With dedication and enthusiasm, the teachers and staff took care of the decorations: a beautiful balloon arch and table centrepieces created a festive and welcoming atmosphere.

The celebration began at midday with a moving speech by Sophie McKee. Sophie highlighted the work done over the years and how it has brought us to where we are now, an organisation that has supported over 1300 students in Jocotenango.

And, of course, there was the cake. Before the cake was cut, recognition was given to the people who have been part of the school for the longest. They accompanied Sophie while some teachers performed the birthday song.

To close the ceremony, everyone raised their glasses in a toast, celebrating not only 20 years of School of Hope, but also the spirit of commitment that unites each member of the team and has made a difference in the lives of so many children in Jocotenango.

Today we want to thank everyone who has been part of this journey: students, teachers, donors, volunteers, sponsors and supporters. Thank you for being part of this story of hope! 

Los preparativos comenzaron unos días antes del evento. Con dedicación y entusiasmo, los profesores y el personal de la escuela se encargaron de la decoración: un precioso arco de globos y los centros de mesa crearon un ambiente festivo y acogedor.

La celebración comenzó a mediodía con un emotivo discurso de Sophie McKee. Sophie destacó el trabajo realizado a lo largo de los años y cómo este nos ha llevado hasta donde estamos ahora, una organización que ha apoyado a más de 1300 estudiantes en Jocotenango.

Y, por supuesto, no faltó la torta. Antes de cortar la torta, se hizo un reconocimiento a las personas que llevan más tiempo formando parte de la escuela. Ellos acompañaron a Sophie mientras algunos profesores interpretaban la canción de cumpleaños.

Para cerrar la ceremonia, todos levantaron sus copas en un brindis, celebrando no sólo los 20 años de la Escuela La Esperanza, sino también el espíritu de compromiso que une a cada miembro del equipo y que ha marcado la diferencia en las vidas de tantos niños en Jocotenango.

Hoy queremos agradecer a todos los que han sido parte de este viaje: estudiantes, maestros, donantes, voluntarios, padrinos y aliados. Gracias por formar parte de esta historia de esperanza.
