10 Years of Esperanza!

If you’ve been following our work for a while, you’ve probably heard us mention the Esperanza Festival at Rushcliffe Spencer Academy in Nottingham—and for good reason! This year, we celebrated a huge milestone: 10 years of Rushcliffe supporting EFTC through their festival fundraising.

For a decade now, students and staff have been pulling together to organise this epic day of fun, all for a good cause. And as if that wasn’t exciting enough, this year they broke a new record, raising an incredible £3,900! That brings the grand total to over £20,000 raised for the School of Hope over the past 10 years. How amazing is that?

As always, the festival was packed with all the good stuff: live music, inflatable activities, craft and food stalls, and of course, the crowd-favourite ‘splat the teacher’ activity. Head of School Sarah Sismey said it best:

“Esperanza is such an important part of Rushcliffe. It’s a whole-school event which everyone loves getting involved in, but it’s also much more than that. Every year we support the charity, working to provide education and support in Guatemala. It’s a really important global connection for us, and really demonstrates Rushcliffe’s values of ‘We care for our world’ and ‘We support others’. It’s one of the events at Rushcliffe that makes me the most proud, and it’s something that creates lasting memories across the whole school community."

Huge thanks to Head of Languages Eva Asensio-Vicente, the Spanish teachers, the Year 9 organising committee, and truly everyone at Rushcliffe who has made this partnership so special for the past decade. We know how much effort goes into making the festival a success each year, and we’re so grateful. Here’s to keeping this wonderful tradition alive for many more summers!
