Leo Leo and the Magic of Letters: Our Prepa’s Journey to Reading

Leo Leo y la magia de las letras: El viaje de nuestros Prepas hacia la lectura

At the School of Hope we believe in the importance of early literacy, which is why we focus on providing the best tools for our children to learn to read. Within this proposal, we seek to have a balance between practical outdoor activities and the use of technology.

In January, our Prepas had fun outdoors and, in a playful and creative way began to familiarize themselves with the shapes of the letters. The teacher handed out colored chalk and the children were in charge of replicating the five vowels they had written on a sheet of paper on the floor of the school playground. At first, they were a little hesitant to draw, but little by little, they got into the fun of drawing many letters while sharing with their classmates.

En la Escuela La Esperanza creemos en la importancia de la alfabetización temprana y por eso nos enfocamos en brindarle las mejores herramientas a nuestros pequeños para que puedan aprender a leer. Dentro de esta propuesta, buscamos tener un equilibro entre las actividades practicas al aire libre y el uso de la tecnología.

En enero, nuestros Prepas se divirtieron al aire libre y de una forma lúdica y creativa empezaron a familiarizarse con las formas de las letras. La maestra entregó tizas de colores y los niños se encargaron de replicar las cinco vocales que llevaban escritas en una hoja de papel en el piso del patio del colegio. Al principio realizaban los trazos con un poco de temor, pero poco a poco, se dejaron llevar por la diversión dibujando muchas letras mientras compartían con sus compañeros.

On the other hand, within the classroom, the use of applications such as Leo Leo (Wumbox) continues to be integrated into our curriculum. Leo Leo is a digital tool that teaches reading and writing through educational games designed for children between 4 and 8 years old. This tool, using artificial intelligence, is able to adapt to the learning needs of each child and allows them to progress at their own pace.

In February, our youngest, Prepa and First Grade students had their initial assessment. The photos are just a reflection of the amazing time they spent interacting with tools that connect them with technology.

Por otro lado, dentro del aula, el uso de aplicaciones como Leo Leo (Wumbox) continúan siendo integradas a nuestra curricula. Leo Leo es una herramienta digital que enseña a leer y escribir a través de juegos educativos diseñados para niños entre 4 y 8 años. Esta herramienta, utilizando inteligencia artificial, es capaz de adaptarse a las necesidades de aprendizaje de cada niño y permitiéndoles avanzar a su propio ritmo.

En febrero, nuestros más pequeñitos, los estudiantes de Prepa y Primera tuvieron su evaluación inicial. Las fotos son solo un reflejo del tiempo increíble que pasaron interactuando con herramientas que los conectan con la tecnología.
